Effective July 1, 2025, the Fair Work Week Ordinance requires retail employers with 300 or more employees worldwide and operating in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County:
- Provide a written “Good Faith Estimate” of work schedules within 10 days of request
- Post work schedules at least 14 days in advance
- Ensure 10 hours rest time between shifts
- Compensate employees for schedule changes after the 14-day notice period
The Los Angeles Department of Consumer & Business Affairs will prepare a notice that retail employers are required to post; however, this notice is not available on their website at time of print.
Employers operating in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County with 300 or more employees must retain records related to their practices regarding this ordinance for at least three years. If you have questions please contact your Silvers HR Consultant.
